CHROMA
CHROMA focuses on minimal surfaces and the relaxation of a mesh through Grasshopper. The design matrix shows a variety of different configurations in order to develop a deep understanding of the relaxation of a mesh. The temporary installation invades the space which it is nested in. The installation is made out of an acrylic material which is coated with a matte finish on the outside surface and a glossy reflective finish on the inside. It allows for light to bounce from it surface and create a visual experience for the interior spaces looking out and individuals walking in to the building. The design is extracted from a grid created by the architectural elements surrounding the installation. The mesh grabs on to the frames set by the grid and connects them to one another with a vertical spine overimposed with the existing column. The installation is attached to the building with shallow anchor points embedded onto the concrete which are tied to tension rods at the openings. The surface is made of a flexible yet stiff mesh type material which the exterior and interior layers are attached to.
