My entry to this year's D&AD Channel 4 competition brief. 4Seven is all about social networking and online discussion, which then filters into what is shown on the channel.

This D&AD brief was to create a motion graphic for Channel Four’s new channel “4Seven”. The new channel had a central theme based on the use of social networking buzz, what viewers discussed on social networking sites would influence what was shown on the channel.
The idea of making use of use of typical phrases and icons from social networking sites came about from the need to tell the viewer as simply as possible what the “4Seven” brand is. This is a channel that is all about the culture of the Internet as such it was important to speak the language of the typical social networker.
“This was a challenging brief as getting the message right was so important. At first I had created another piece of motion graphic work that was not well received by my peers, leading me to rethink the approach that I was taking. The result was a piece of animation that is much more playful and fun whilst still retaining it’s core social media message.”
This animation is highly inspired by the awesome "Alphabetic" by Ariel Costa
