Gemr Landing Experience

Gemr is a social platform where collectors of all varieties can share their thoughts and collections by making posts to share with one another in various clubs and feeds.

The goal of this project was to increase user knowledge of the platform pre-on-boarding. Our landing page bounce rate was low, and the hypothesis was the story we were telling on our previous page was not getting ourselves across well enough. After putting the existing page through some rounds of user testing we found that this indeed was the case. Users just weren't getting it, the page was too vague, and most importantly lacked excitement. The users thought it felt too mechanical, and they weren't connecting. 
So our next designs (which you can see in the clip below or at
gemr.com ) aimed to solve both of these problems. I attempted to accomplish this by using a brighter color palette, and making use of some large imagery taken directly from our app. In our next update (seen in the video) we are incorporating our newly commissioned Gemr characters to help further personify the site to our incoming users. 
After completing the high fidelity mockups we A/B tested the two experiences and the results leaned towards this new experience. Our analytics have shown improved sign ups since the launch of this new landing experience to boot
