Abney Park website redesign

Redesigning Abney Park's website
I was tasked with redesigning Abney Park's website to help increase engagement with potential visitors, update its the look and feel, and make the site more user friendly, accessible and responsive on devices of all sizes.

Abney Park is one of the ‘Magnificent Seven’ garden cemeteries of London, and is located in Stoke Newington. It is a woodland memorial park and Local Nature Reserve, managed by the London Borough of Hackney.

In terms of design, I needed to take into consideration the different purposes of the park - balancing the tranquility, remembrance and heritage of the site as a cemetery park, with the role played by nature and biodiversity, and the creativity generated through stone and wood carving workshops that take place in the grounds of the Park as well as forest schools run for children to enjoy the space.

The colour palette is made up of a range of greens, blues and greys to represent remembrance, nature and learning.
The site's information architecture is designed to encourage visitors to explore the many aspects of Abney Park.

The scrolling elements allow for bold photography to showcase the visual beauty of the location.
