A photo story project by Srishti Verma, Tejal Sharan and Nicholas Pegu
This project was initially envisioned as people talking about their experiences of abuse, followed by powerful portraits. But in the inception phase of the project itself, it took quite a turn. Conversations with the first few victims made it clear that anonymity was imperative due to still existing the taboo of the subject. There was just so much discomfort and pain involved with retelling and hence reliving a scarring memory.
Hence the photo story focusses mainly on gestures and hands as a primary subject since they can be so expressive.
