WHAT IS THE PROBLEM ?

“Menstruation “ is a very sensitive and Taboo subject in India. We feel ashamed to speak about this topic openly in the society. This creates lots of problems for young girls who are experiencing the menstruation / periods for the first time or in a routine cycle. We need to understand that ‘’ Periods “are the God’s gifted one of the natural processes in a woman’s body.

 

Commercial Pads currently available in the market contain Super Absorbent Polymers Gel, Plastic Sheet, Bleached Cellulose wood Pulp, Silicon Papers which in contact with tender skin causes irritation, rashes, allergy, and increase the chances of Cervical Cancer in women. In current sanitary pads number of layers of plastic and absorbents are used to increase the time frame and absorbency, but unknowingly it is risk of various problems. Dioxin produce from the commercial Sanitary Pads causes endocrine disruption, Cervical, Pelvic and Breast Cancer, Abnormal Tissue growth in abdominal and reproductive organs, Immune System Suspension and Endometriosis.

CONCEPT :

For the project I used the step-up pad and I understood the difference between the step-up pad and the pad in the market. I wrote down my menstrual experience before the project and how much trouble I felt in those days. When I came to know that there are biodegradable pad too and it causes less stress, the discomfort during menstrual cycle is reduced. 

My concept for the project is "Suffocation" and The approach I choose for the project depends on empathy. In this project, I want to show how natural things are dominated by artificial things and how these man-made harmful things threaten / Suffocate the natural things.
