Obscured 2/F (noun)
: The implicit roles of footbridges regarding human behaviour in the floating city.

Obscured 2/F is a design project dedicated to the neglected second floors in our city, footbridges. Hong Kong turns into a high-density harbour under modernisation. This enhances the development of footbridges and witnesses the changes in this city. Footbridges and networks, elevated pathways in between congested buildings, are gradually developing into another ground for the pedestrians. The high flow rate of pedestrians creates different forms of implicit cultural fragments on footbridges.

Most of the footbridges are named according to the pedestrians and spread around the communities. There are no official names for most of the footbridges. Naming is an emotional attachment that proves that footbridges mean something to Hong Kong people. Therefore, this project suggests possibilities that oppose the ordinary image of footbridges and encourages the impression towards our modern city and community through unspoken cityscape and human activities.

Lead to think the notions of footbridge in different perspectives. /Present new roles of footbridge in hong kong, other than just ordinary pathway. /Arouse curiosity and draw upon a renewed sensibility towards surrounding through this project.
This research explores footbridges from aesthetical (2-D), spatial (3-D), and sociocultural (4-D) perspectives, uses ’AS’ to metaphoroise the possibilities of footbridges.
