Lake House

Area: 112 m²
Year: 2018
Architects: Cartelle Design
Ksenia Shkolnikova, Anastasia Struchkova, Denis Krasikov
Location: Milan, Italy

The project was developed for a young married couple. The main objective was to preserve the feeling of a summer house on the lake, but to add more functionality.
As usual, the tastes of the owners of the house were very different. It was necessary to combine cold minimalism with the comfort of a country house. The whole project is built on contrast. On the combination of the warmth of natural wood, a large number of soft textures with cold technological functionality.
The first floor is divided into 2 levels. Zoning is done through the use of different flooring materials. In the kitchen and dining area we use large-format porcelain stoneware, for ease of operation and cleaning. And natural wood on the floor of livingroom to give warmth and comfort to the recreation area. A lot of wood used in this room as well as it is filled
decorative elements, in the form of ropes, vases with dried flowers, the open part of the fireplace with a compartment for storing firewood. The whole house is almost completely devoid of top lighting, the lighting is provided by sconces and table lamps, which allows us to create a more intimate and cozy atmosphere in the evenings. Around the fireplace is a storage rack for books, and open shelves for decoration. All this brings more life to the room and makes it more friendly.
The kitchen area is made in minimalist style.
This is where feature comes first. A small area of the kitchen area dictates the need to use the island as a place for cooking. A wine cooler is installed in it, and a shelf for storing wine bottles is located above the island; it is both a decorative element and a functional item. The host is a great connoisseur of wine. The facades of the kitchen also work in contrast, the cold colors of the kitchen is combined with wooden facades and objects.
Above the dining room group, the original fixture (wall lamp) is preserved -  placed in this house at the end of the 60s, by the previous owners. This element is the link between the past and the present.
