Disney Bicicle Design for Motociclo
Motociclo is the main bicicle wholescaler in Uruguay, and leader in the motorbike market, spare parts, and accesories since 1931. In 1997 the Company obtained the licence to produce bicicles with Disney characters in Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile.
We establish the product and ID design strategy with the licence through three aspects: the conception of the bike as a toy that can go along with all the kids games; the color in all the bike components, and the design of stikers as the product graphics.
A serie of exclusive accesories were especially developed for this product line, that enlarge the play posibilities of a traditional bike. A funny bag was included in the road bike 12, a flag in the back to make easy to find for the parents, a doll chair in the girl road bike 16. Also exclusive accesories were added to all the products of the line. This accesories were designed toghether to achieve coherence in the product perception.
The work required local and external supliers coordination, as well as the simultaneous relationship between.Motociclo Montevideo and Walt Disney Company in Buenos Aires in all de stages of the product development.
The development of a line of products under Disney licence was a challenge because there were several attemptt to do so in the company without success. The results of our work allowed the company to win strength in many markets and generated a referent product that mantained in production form many years.
The quality of the project and its development allowed the Company to obtain the bicicle licence in another markets.
