BLACK PRIME PROJECT

Brief:

To create/design an identity for an energy drink, with flavours from the Fruit of Baobab tree, which is very common in Angola, West Africa. The client wanted to bring the Angola flavours to Europe and start a business in the United Kingdom. Also, they wanted the identity to have a multi-purpose. Since i was born in Angola, myself, it was easy to understand what the client was looking for.

The Client specifically asked to have a panther on the design of their identity and traits that would link back to Angola/Africa, and they also wanted an animal to represent strength and endurance, such as the Black Panther. The slogan that they decided on was "For the believers" and they wanted to include that on the every product.
I started with some research, which was very focused on African culture, the different foods from the different countries in Africa, the dances, music and much more.

Angola is such a beautiful country and customs and cultures are fascinating.  Since i come from an artistic background the patterns, colours, and texture of sampled african fabric caught my attention.

Doodles and hand drawings are one of my strengths so i imediatelly started to work on my ideas. (images below)

I scanned my drawings, tested and aligned them and and arrived at this final low poly designs and sampled them in different colours. (image below)
After talking to the client again, they agreed on the coloured version of it, instead of black and white low poly design.
It is very important to put the design in concept in order to visualise it and make sure that the client understands what the outcome is suppose to look like.
The first black and white fabric design  was a great inspiration and i have used the similar pattern at border of the Can and posters, which links back to our inspiring and beautiful patterns in Africa.
