Continuing an extensive program of upgrades to this Grade II listed ex-convent, The Alverton were looking to complete another piece of the puzzle by way of their interior signage. Following many years of trusted collaboration, Friends were again re-appointed to design a polished and sympathetic sign and wayfinding system to guide guests throughout this luxurious Cornish hotel.
To kick off this project, Friends began with an in-depth concept and strategy stage, working closely with the in-house marketing team, ensuring all requirements were met. This stage of work formed the basis for the development of a 2 tier sign system: A primary system to clearly direct guests and staff around the hotel and a secondary, more discreet, complimentary, system to communicate instructions such as ‘Staff Only’ and ‘Mind The Step.’
The materials used were key to keeping the signage consistent with the hotels timeless aesthetic. The primary signage system uses oak supports to tie the signs in with the existing bar counter and wine wall originally designed by Friends during previous interior refurbishment. We were delighted to partner again with Parc Signs who provided samples to ensure colours and finishes were perfect, prior to production. The finishing touch on these signs is the Alverton marque skilfully pressed into each of the lower supports, adding that special little something that is indicative of the Alverton’s own attention to detail.
We are absolutely thrilled with the final signage and the way it meets a core need of the Alverton’s guests while continuing to communicate the style and values of the hotel. The signs have been expertly produced by Parc Signs and have a real air of quality and timelessness, ensuring they will serve the hotel, it’s guests and its staff for many years to come.
