adidas Originals "Handball Spezial" St Patricks Day 2019
In celebration of St.Patrick’s Day and as a follow up to the MIG "Pröst" München; I got to re-interpret the Handball Spezial.
Originally dropping back in 1979, the adidas Spezial started a legacy of court shoes from the 3 stripes brand designed for optimal performance whilst playing handball. Handball to many Germans is just as important as football, with the likes of the Handball Spezial setting the benchmark for speed and traction in a sports shoe for years to come.
The legendary Handball silhouette now gets the Irish treatment again with nubuck suede uppers in beige with tri-color 3 stripes representing the Irish flag. Other highlights include a shamrock to the tongue tab with the wording "La le padraig" which reads as Happy St Patricks Day in Gaelic alongside gold adidas branding to the heeltab and a sockliner finished with a repeat adidas x cloverleaf design all atop a soft gum rubber outsole.
To accompany the "Hero" of the pack it is accompanied by 4 other models to complete the pack; the next two having links to the Irish through colour and embellishments through the way of quarter sign-offs atop a nubuck body upper and sockliner finishes with repeat adidas x shamrock design.
