Quetzalcoatl Tequila

Quetzalcoatl Tequila
Quetzalcoatl, is a handcrafted traditional tequila brand and packaging. Inspired by the feathered serpent deity from Meso-American cultures, by the same name. The brand and mark itself is meant to draw from the stone carvings of the feathered serpent, along with additional symbols and icons seen through Mayan and Incan culture.
Quetzalcoatl, was created with the project requirement of needing to draw from a specific region or culture from around the world. In addition, the choice in alcohol was also taken into consideration, helping to narrow down the selection process for the overall brand. Finally, the second half of the project required some sort of carrier component to be bundled along with the bottle itself, both having to fit within the over arching brand and visual look that was created.
This project held a lot of focus on research and understanding how design is applied to bottles, labels and other attached components. A lot of the struggle that came with this project in particular, was handling what information needed to be applied to the bottle and the management in hierarchy between the this type and the design itself. Ultimately it was decided to let the design breath and give it the room to really entice any potential viewers; drawing them in closer and allowing them to then read through the labeled information.
