Amnesia is a deficit in memory caused by brain damage, disease, or psychological trauma. The memory can be either wholly or partially lost depending on the extent of damage that was caused. The main characteristic of amnesia is the inability to remember vital personal information that is deeply disturbing. People with amnesia cannot recall their memories and experiences. Thus, in order to retain the remnants of their disintegrated recollections, they have to delve into relations that are buried inside their past fantasies; relations that are references for a person’s identity and personality.
