Some of the wildest land preserved in the continental US, the Bob Marshall Wilderness features a diverse range of trails for serious hikers and backpackers. Experienced explorers may wish to consider the Chinese Wall Trail as a destination.

Consisting of a 12-mile limestone cliff approximately 1,000 feet tall, the Chinese Wall has become one of Bob Marshall's best-known landmarks. It stretches between Larch Hill Pass and Haystack Mountain, where it serves as part of the continental divide.

Although route options to reach the Chinese Wall vary, the shortest entails a 20 mile hike from the trail head. The mountains in the surrounding area offer spectacular views as well. Despite its remoteness, the Chinese Wall has become a popular site to visit. To seek out a less crowded perspective, consider climbing Haystack Mountain to reach the top of the cliff.
