Some homes you just dreamed you lived in.  We look and think, "I'd like to live there" or "I can see that in our house".   This home certainly can make us say those statements.  The style of the house is Spanish Eclectic and consists of an addition and existing home.  When entering the front door you are greeted with a grand quad winder staircase painted black with an elaborate detailed newel post.  The stairwell is flooded with beautiful warm sunlight throughout the day which also provides the living room its soft even light.  The living room has a large arch framing a fireplace flanked by two small lead mullion windows which capture afternoon sun.  If you study the living room photo you will see a really neat feature where firewood can be stacked for storage.  The living room, dinning room, and stairwell are open to one another creating a seamless whole and much desired modern living space.  What I like about the openness is that you let the furniture decide where your room ends and begins and one can also really feel the volume of the space.  As for the addition, a home office and drafting room were built.  The drafting room in particular can be a very religious experience when entering it for the first time.  The space is almost encapsulated in large wooden mullion windows which brings the surroundings of nature and the exterior in creating this seamless extension inside to out.  The drafting room space provides a view of a courtyard, trees, and pool.  A space that is very much at rest becomes very dynamic thanks to exposed rafters, trim, book cases, and mullions that create the horizontal and vertical lines entertaining the eye pushing it forward then pulling back again.  The exteriors are all stucco and the roof is terracotta clay.  Many arches can be seen throughout the home as passage ways and entries along with ovals and circles. Certainly this home has charm and I love the amount of detail you can see throughout which can be very difficult to find in new homes today.  I do feel delight when I look at these photos and I had the same feeling when I photographed the space.  The architecture did inspire me when I was composing my shots and choosing which details to capture.  What I've learned is when something inspires us so much it has the tendency to push us and dig deep within ourselves to pull out something great and inspire others with.  This home certainly has done just that and I hope the design and photos inspire ad delight you.
