Accessibility: Drinking Fountain

I found myself wanting to use my design skills in order to promote equality and accessibility. I decided to reinvent the standard drinking fountain which despite being updated in the early 2000's, is still inaccessible to many individuals. I created two designs: one radical and one incremental.
My radical design is fully customizable with the ability to change in height, via an electric button system, and extend away from the wall, with a level system, in order to meet the user where they are.
Above & Below: There are some of my preliminary sketches where I worked out the mechanics of my radical design.
My incremental design is fully extended from the supporting wall and utilizes a curved shape to allow for complete access. Wheelchair users are able to approach the fountain and have their seat fit underneath the palette with comfort and without limitation.
Above: Above are more of my iterations and ideations of possible solutions to the inaccessibility problem of the standard drinking fountain.
