Street Art
INO painted his first mural in Poland, taking part in the Fundacja Urban Forms project, which was created back in 2009 as an idea to bring cutting-edge public art to the city of Lodz. The Greek artist brought a bit of his culture into the new surrounding but reappropriated in his style, giving it a new, universal meaning. The large-scale mural depicts Atlas holding a giant bomb on his shoulder, a revised version of the Greek myth in which Atlas was condemned by Zeus to hold the skies for eternity.

The familiar image became a symbol of human endurance, as well as the "weight of the world," but INO opened doors for another interpretation with this intervention. Seeing the image as the reference to the tense global sociopolitical situation, the artist portrayed our planet as the ticking bomb, adding to the weight of the Titan's burden. Rendered in his signature freehand black and white technique, with an almost abstract splash of blue, His monumental Bomber is a continuation of the artist's ongoing series of provocative pictorial commentaries about the contemporary world.––Sasha Bogojev
