More often than not, we come across clients who are extremely passionate about their product and services, but have no idea how to express themselves visually. They have no particular style, concept or any design preference in mind, which leaves us with no guidance regarding the brand identity.
When we receive clients such as The Quirky Cork - a branding project for a "quirky" sommelier (and her cat :) - we create a generous set of logos for our first round-up meeting. We come up with various concepts, use many fonts and colors to capture different styles and moods to test what they gravitate towards.
We cannot ask our clients to "just picture it." It is our duty to help them visualize the possibilities for their brand. When they see the first set of logos, they realize - and are usually surprised by - what they love. Because it so close to their heart, they end up having an immediate reaction to a selected few. We move on from there.
