Colonial Williamsburg

Contrast and a shallow depth of field are the main elements used in this photograph. There is also a sense of balance as both sides are about equal.
This image is a preview of the area that one is going to see through the following pictures. It is a replica model of the Colonial Williamsburg area. It shows the detail of the town and the importance of certain areas over others- those are the definite must sees.
This photograph has a clear linear motif, however, there is a conflict formed between the body on the left and the two on the right given the direction that they are facing. This photograph catches a glimpse of the colonial clothing, and allows visitors with a chance to fit in with the rest of the town by renting the garments.
Line and balance are the main elements in this photograph. Contrast in the shadows and the lack of features in the bodies is also present.
This image shows the entry walkway into the historical Colonial Williamsburg area, where we see individuals entering and leaving. On the pathway, there are multiple "time stops" engraved into the ground, preparing one for the full experience ahead.
This photograph has a shallow depth of field, capturing the horse and carriage rides in Colonial Williamsburg. This image takes one back in time to the days in the colonies where Thomas Jefferson and George Washington lived, where this was the main form of transportation. Here, tourists are taken around town with a guided tour.
In this photograph, there is tonal affinity. The sheep and the background colors are very similar, however the shallow depth of field creates distance between the background and the sheep in the foreground. This sheep is one in a flock, as they were in Colonial days. This one was caught falling asleep.
One point perspective is seen in the above photograph, along with linear motif. Here, the groundskeeper is patiently patrolling her grounds until closing time. An early American flag is seen in front of each location in Colonial Williamsburg.
This image is an example of lines, as well as space. There is a notable size difference between the adults and child in the foreground, as well as the adults in the background. In this image, a child is in the restraints used in the Colonial days for criminals that may be executed. The parent is surrounded by history, and using his new technology to capture the sight.
Linear motif is seen in this photograph, as well as a use of the rule of thirds. There is a sense of direction, as the gentleman is caught mid-step. Here, an employee is seen leaving his area for the day. Typically not seen with an umbrella - in the colonial days, umbrellas were seen as a luxury item for only prestige women, if they were seen used at all.
Line and a shallow depth of field are used here, along with a greater contrast than the other images. This image points tourists to the two famous taverns where our country's founding fathers would dine.
This image shows contrast, and although it is a seemingly flat space, there is a shallow depth of field to give it an interesting close up. This is a lock used on many of the fences in front of individual buildings. Most of the buildings and aspects of Colonial Williamsburg have been restored while keeping the original aesthetic. This is a small glimpse of the past given the age of the lock, and a look at how far we have moved ahead.
