On this project my role was to create the game system and all of the mechanics. I also composed the music and did the Sound Design.

Description :
Gentlemen's Quarrel is a 2D Fighting game where the goal is to knock the opponent off the bar. The fight takes place inside a traditional British Pub to see who the true gentleman is.

This project was carried out as an exercise to design a game in the Fighting Game genre on Contrsuct2. It was the first project that I created within a team.
Mechanics :
The player has three possible actions that he can make : Push, Block and Dodge. With these actions the player must push the opponent off the bar.

The player can push the opponent in three different directions : forward, down and up. By mixing these different types of pushes, the player can create a combination that augments the strength of his attack.

The block allows the player to not get pushed, however this mechanic is one sided and one directional. It can be countered if the opponent is behind the blocking player.

The dodge allows the player to go through attacks and evade a blocking opponent. However this mechanic makes the player move in a way that's hard to control, making it the cause of most deaths.
Environment :
Instead of having a timer implemented within the game, we decided to shrink the fight zone progressively as the game goes on. Not only does this act as an implicit timer, it also makes the game far more stressful and dynamic as the fight goes on.
