An Ordinary Princess

Can a princess be ordinary? Well that is something Princess Basil has been trying to answer her whole life, seeing as how she was blessed to be just that since birth by a fairy. Growing up as an ordinary princess is not easy, especially when you have 6 older sisters who were all blessed to be extraordinary things, like smart and funny and beautiful. Basil's life is made even more difficult by her loving, but slightly overbearing, parents who want her to be more than she is so that a handsome prince will want to marry her. One day her mom takes matters into her own hands and hires a dragon to kidnap Basil and take her to a tower, where a prince will come and rescue her (then marry her, of course). Basil goes along with her mom's plan, but soon develops a plan of her own: a plan to become more than ordinary.

Throughout this adventure, Basil learns that no princess is ordinary; Every princess is extraordinary in her own way.
This is a scene from the story, in which Basil and her new friend Hudson try to retrieve a magical ring from the evil dragon Mordrid.
