Santo Gordo - Restaurant Branding

Santo Gordo

Santo Gordo is a fictitious tapas restaurant and bar inspired by Saint Thomas Aquinas who was known to be fat in body, but muscular in heart and thought. The name Santo Gordo means Fat Saint in Spanish. The idea behind this concept is to elevate the tapas and wine dining experience into a spiritual feast. All those religious references combined with the unique atmosphere and the quality drinks and tapas create a very distinctive place in Los Angeles, California.

The visual work for this project focuses on the distinct name, creating a blend between religious renaissance and contemporary humor. The identity system serves an alternation between the saint face, multiple wardrobe changes, or a halo in case of his absence. Through these multiple applications, Santo Gordo converts its followers to a new religion by offering a cultural oasis for people who still understand the importance of transforming the random Friday night into a lifetime experience.

Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.
