[2] ZORK

THE STORY'S INSPIRATION:
- This story was inspired by my childhood when my dad brought home a game called Zork
- It was one of the first games for the Apple IIe computer from the late 70’s, early 80’s. It was just text and you had to guess what the game could understand and what it would let you do
- I wanted to write a story about how then, those games were about the imagination of the player. They aren’t like that so much anymore, you’re shown everything now
- I wanted to show a child’s imagination taking over and the pure enjoyment of it
- It’s also supposed to spark the loving nostalgia of my generation for that time, that machine and our love of gaming as kids

CONCEPT IMAGERY STARTING POINTS:
- The story was pretty simple conceptually so I only gave the artist a single image I really wanted to incorporate, an Atari Space Invader character artistically realized inside the illustration
FINAL:
Weekly illustrated short stories from a Brooklyn writer who is trying to stay anonymous a bit longer.
