How Sparklers are Made

Sparklers are the most used fireworks of all time. From Indoor Sparklers to Wedding Sparklers their use and how they are made varies. It no denies that they are dangerous in the hands of the inexperienced and children. To be able to make the most use of it and avoid burn injuries and not cause a fire, it is important to know just how sparklers work and how they are made.
Sparklers are basically made up of three components: a metal fuel, a metal, and an oxidizer. Other components can also be added to it to enhance the color and its effects. The most commonly used combination is charcoal as fuel, potassium nitrate as oxidizer and starch as a binder. The wire is made of iron, which can then be coated into different fuel chemicals namely aluminum and magnesium, iron, titanium, ferrotitanium to give it a yellow/white,  red, silver, and gold glow respectively. These are the most common types of color of sparklers. However other chemicals such as salt can change the color of the sparkler to create red, greens and blues. Sparklers are easy to be made if one has the necessary equipment and tools.
