Anthony Burgess's novel “A Clockwork Orange” is one of the most shocking, experimental, and outspoken works of the 20th century. This novel is the first-person account of a juvenile delinquent who undergoes state-sponsored psychological rehabilitation for his aberrant behavior. Objects of oppression into weapons and armor for his fight against the oppressors. Add to this the working-class symbols that are bovver boots and braces, and you have a perfect outfit for rebellion, degrading these items that the rich consider sacred while reclaiming working-class gear as a fashion choice. The fake eyelashes on the one eye, meanwhile, denote a blurring of gender boundaries.
The words “noisy”, “vulgar” and “irritable” that formed the basis of our idea for the pattern. The appropriate colors selected for our pattern – red and green, the most contrasting color pairs. When creating a concept for future design, it was necessary to determine the main characteristic features of the character or novel – the look of Alex with fake eyelashes, and the word “clockwork”.
The second version of the pattern was of colored paper. During the development of the concept for the design of the pattern, not only sketches were used, but also a collage. The pattern was obtained in the process of searching for an idea and used for the next version of the cover in vintage style.
