Policy brief for the Municipality of Guanaja
A threat to the sustainability of local marine resources and the livelihoods it sustains increases without proper policy and timely management action. During 2018 I developed a  computer model for the marine ecosystems surrounding Guanaja Island in Honduras, as part of my postgraduate research project. This research integrates underwater visual census data, interview data, plus tens of thousands of other data points collected over the past two decades, coming in from multiple sources, all dealing with local marine biodiversity and fisheries. The results were applied to explore the outcome of different hypothetical strategies for managing local fishing resources. Below are the results, summarized in the form of a Policy Brief directed to the municipal authorities of the island.
