Web Developer Portfolio Refresh
A web developer friend of mind was re-tooling his personal website last fall, and needed some help fleshing out his design. I took a look at what he had, got an understanding of what he wanted to do, and I ended up giving him a fresh design in one night.
The main goal was to create a unified brand from top to bottom, playing up the black and yellow motif wherever possible. I turned the angle that he used below the hero area into an arrow, pointing the reader down the page. I brought in some iconography to help categorize the information, and included screenshots to give his work some context.
And speaking of context, the site introduction needed some. Since his weapon of choice is a laptop, I wrapped his greeting in a MacBook. And for smaller screens, I suggested having that turn into an iPhone. (I almost broke my arm patting myself on the back for that one.) Finally, no sales page would be complete without a friendly face and a call to action. I felt it grounded the page nicely, and reinforced the brand.
