The Deeper Than Indigo Southeast Textile Symposium is a three day event taking place on February 21st, 22nd, and 23rd of 2019 in St. Augustine, Florida. The event is in conjunction with Flagler College's series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the college's opening. For my internship with Flagler College, this semester I was asked to create a graphic for the event. This assignment fueled the creation of the set of three infographics, outlining many important features of the history of indigo dye. The first infographic is "How to Make Your Own Indigo Vat", second the "Global History of Indigo", and third the "Southeast U.S History of Indigo". These three categories were chosen in an effort to highlight the main features and history of the indigo plant throughout history. The set of the infographics will be printed large (14" x 46") and will be on display at the symposium for visitors to view in person. 

The main design goal for the infographics was to blend visuals and type elegantly to create an inviting and easy to read composition. The overall blue hues were derived from the natural indigo dye color observed during the testing strip stage of dyeing. A simple illustration style was adopted to get the visual across to the viewer without them having to work too hard to determine the contents of the visual. 

For the Deeper Than Indigo logo, a clean and professional type-based logo was created to reflect that dignified manner of the symposium, and to not overcrowd the already visually dense infographics. A textured type face was chosen to reflect the earthy nature of the indigo plant itself as well as the natural indigo dyeing process.
