Mother Night
This Arabian inspired piece has been in the making for a few years now but it’s finally finished. I wanted to make this artwork to show my appreciation and respect for Arabian culture and its people. They are one of the oldest civilizations on earth and the pioneers of so many of our modern day achievements. If there is anything you take away from this piece, let it be love, acceptance and appreciation.
This is a hand-painted, hand-cut, watercolor illustration. It has 3D elements and a woven paper texture. The 3 women represent Mother Night, Daughter Moon and Daughter Star. With carefully designed poses they convey their individual characters and relationship. This is not based on actual Arabic religion, but rather a fantastical approach to the culture.
