Designer Meng Yang of Civic Designs has a knack for creating Chicago-themed posters, like bringing Carl Sandburg's famous poem to life with his signature illustration style.

 

So when he reached out to me to help him craft a voice for a poster series he was creating, I was immediately onboard.

 

Inspired by his love of the midwest and a road trek that led him around the five Great Lake states, Meng created a poster for each centering around the state's nickname. He and I then worked together to tell the story of each state's nickname in a fun way that was featured on the back of each screenprint poster.

 

The Kickstarter was a hit and exceeded all of his expectations for it.
