Matthew Musheno's profile

The Benefits of Green Building Practices

A senior account executive with Johnson Controls, Inc., since 1999, Matthew Musheno leads teams of operations personnel, engineers, and sales people in the installation of building technologies for construction projects. Matthew Musheno is particularly interested in utilizing sustainable energy sources and implementing green building techniques in his construction projects.

Because buildings currently account for 30 percent of landfill waste and 68 percent of total electric consumption in the United States, environmentally responsible building practices have become increasingly important as communities continue to grow and develop. Through every stage of construction, green building strategies use processes that use fewer resources, are more efficient, and reduce the negative impact on the health of humans and the environment.

The benefits of green buildings are becoming increasingly clear. In addition to preserving ecosystems and improving air quality, they reduce waste and use fewer natural resources. Additionally, though initial costs are sometimes higher, green building practices typically reduce operating costs over time and increase profits through greater efficiency.
