Lumi
Lumi is a portable lamp that lives in both an indoor and outdoor home setting.
Made of Wood Veneer, Frosted-Glass Pastic Cylinders, and Jute,
Lumi is rustic and woodsy in appearance.
Lumi was created as part of a 3 Week Industrial Design project at RISD.
The prompt was to incorporate a standard socket and plug into our designs.
I chose to make Lumi battery powered, hence portable and cordless.

Lumi exists in two different configurations: compressed and extended.
When Lumi is compressed, it acts as an abient light.
Suitable for both interior and exterior living spaces, Lumi can create the right ambience for your room.
Lumi functions as a lantern in its extended configuration.
In this configuration, Lumi can help guide you in darkness whether you are watching the sunset at the beach, enjoying a couple of drinks with friends on your patio, or hiking through the woods. Lumi is there to illuminate your path.

Lumi's thin balsa veneer is not only light but slightly transparent,
revealing the beautiful grain of the wood when illuminated.
