BRAVING THE WILDERNESS
Personal Project
A few years ago, I discovered Brené Brown’s amazing Ted Talk “The Power of Vulnerability”. I was hooked. People, how we relate to one another, and vulnerability have always been topics of very high interest to me. Nearly obsessions.

In June 2017 I started reading Brené Brown’s book Daring Greatly: How the courage to be vulnerable transforms the way we live, love, parent and lead. Soon, as I had been reflecting for a while on ways I could put together my love of reading, writing and image making, I started to illustrate and write my own articles based on this highly inspirational book, which I posted on my blog and social media week by week.

As the project evolved, some illustrator friends of mine felt so enthusiastic about the project that they decided to get on board. They also read the book and wrote and illustrated a chapter of their choice. Somehow, a book club was born.

Afterwards, I decided to print a zine gathering all the articles and illustrations we made. As time passed by, my zine became a good conversation starter with people. My love for writing, illustration, interesting ideas and good discussions was spreading, and I loved it.

As a result, I decided to start this experience again. And it just so happened Brené Brown’s new book Braving the Wilderness was chosen for season 2.
This page gathers the illustrations that were created for this project.

You can also read the articles by visiting THE ILLUSTRATION BOOK CLUB website. Thank you for looking this project up :-)

During the summer of 2018 I also organised a Kickstarter campaign in order to print 200 copies of this second zine. Here's the video I made for it:
And the campaign was a success thanks to the support of 156 backers!!
Here are a few pictures from the zine:
And here are a few pictures from the book signing party (with Jango Jim, Stephanie Wunderlich and Ellakookoo) in the fancy bookstore Le Monte-en-l'air in Paris:
