What is yostocks:
Yostocks is a mobile application, that allows the users to invest any amount of money in their favorite brand's stock. So, if someone wants to invest 100 Danish Kroner in Apple stock, using our mobile app, it is possible!
Following, you will be able to see my design for the alpha version of the application. Much of the research for the project was already done, so I basically only needed to work on the IA and UI.
My idea was:
Provide a graphical presentation of how the stock(s)/portfolio is performing
Details that can be accessed only when the user wants
Make a simple navigation
I also created a landing page, where people could sign up to be informed when the alpha version would be ready to launch. It can be found here: www.ariskampas.com/test
How do we start? With a sitemap!
I worked with Sketch, craft and Invision app (for the prototype) on my Mac.
After user tests, it was apparent that the design needed improvements because it was: Too dark, the company logos created more challenges to the interface, and the overall look is so predicable, nothing new. The only reason that a dark background would be acceptable is if the user had to look at the screen for extended periods of time. So I decided to adopt a very light gray background instead of a dark one, and use only a teal green color for the app, this way it would fall within the branding colors.
Portfolio screens and stocks:
I have decided to give the same color for both BUY and SELL buttons because: for the app and the business behind it, it should be indifferent whether the user should buy or sell. There should not be any black practices nor encouragement of the user to behave in any certain way.
When the user clicks on buy or sell, he is transfered to a page where the amount is entered. Then a final confirmation page prompts the user to finalize the transaction. Below you can see the History and the Buy and Sell screens.
