Paul Seeman's profile

Joining the California Judges Association

Paul Seeman is a former judge who dedicated his career to serving in the juvenile court system. As a member of the California Judges Association (CJA), Paul Seeman also worked with the Juvenile Court Judges of California, a part of the CJA, and in 2009 was awarded that group's Wilmont Sweeney Award as California Juvenile Court Judge of the Year.

Founded in 1929, the CJA is a voluntary membership organization that supports the judiciary of the State of California. Its members include commissioners of state courts, judges of the courts of appeal and superior courts, state bar court judges, and judges who retired from these courts. Here are some benefits of becoming a member of the CJA:

1. Ethics questions are answered quickly through the CJA's Ethics Committee hotline, and receive confidential support and counsel from its Judicial Discipline Advisory Panel.

2. Access to group insurance plans designed for judges, such as long-term care, pet care, and vision care plans.

3. Legislative representation through CJA committees, which advocate on such topics as family and juvenile law, court administration, and probate and mental health law.

4. The ability to combat unfair criticism from media outlets with assistance from teams of experienced judges.
