ART DIRECTION | VFX | GFX DESIGN | TITLES DESIGN

Aimed at the under 10 years of age market, AXL is a project that required an opening prologue, a main-on-end title sequence and a series of of various GFX and VFX design and execution. Such a fun job!

THE OPENING PROLOGUE

The opening prologue of the film was a simple approach. One that plays off the the displacement of Riley’s character by hand cranking the film and subsequent text animation throughout.

GFX & USER INTERFACE DESIGN

Throughout the film, a large portion of the narrative is expressed through scenes involving two employees from the Craine laboratory who are tracking down the A.X.L prototype.

For this to work, we wanted to do two things. One, create a user interface that played across twelve screens and helped section out the narrative into modules, and two, walk the line between what is visually realistic and what was visually entertaining for viewers under 10.

This body of design work played across screens, mobile devices and also helmet visors.

MAIN ON END CREDIT SEQUENCE

Following the films path, we wanted the main on end to focus on the theme of rebuilding.
