Marie was in graduate school at the Cranbrook Academy of Art (2004) when she first made soap in the shape of a hand. She created over 2500 soap hands and carefully arranged them on the floor. After showing the piece a few times marie had to figure out what to do with all the hands. Since they were functional she started leaving them on bathroom sinks & in soap dishes where ever she went (friends houses, public places, etc.). Marie then began to see the little soap hands more as a product & less as an art piece. She made a webshop & started filling orders.
Marie is still making these soaps by hand with lots of help from her husband david. Handsoap is available in their shop Imaginary Animal.
