Empowering Street Culture Zine

My zine was inspired originally by street culture elements including fashion and graffiti. I wanted to combine photography with the rebellious graphical natural of doodling to provide a aesthetically pleasing book of street elements. However, throughout my research I became inspired by various artists including Hattie Stewart, Ben Gore and Alice Skinner, These artists used various elements within their work which I also wanted to explore in my Zine in particular these included social issues, political issues, body consciousness and gender empowerment. My zine has grown throughout its development process by focusing mainly on issues I feel are relevant to my zine and also to those who would be interested in my illustrative style. I have tried to keep many of the pages simplistic when it comes to text, and allow the reader to interpret their own relation to the meaning of each illustration. Although I have also included two poems within my zine which I found were very empowering within my designs and expressed my feelings towards the individual pages.
