Poster challenge:

As Tool fans eagerly await the release of their new album—last release was 10,000 Days (2006)—I’ve decided to embark on a personal project where I will be designing 1x poster per week until the album comes out. Tool was described by Patrick Donovan of The Age as "the thinking person's metal band. Cerebral and visceral, soft and heavy, melodic and abrasive, tender and brutal, familiar and strange, western and eastern, beautiful and ugly, taut yet sprawling and epic, they are a tangle of contradictions.”
-
Each poster will be inspired by one of their songs, using the song title as the basis for the design. Their long and complex releases often unify musical experimentation, visual arts, and a message of self evolution—exemplified by the iconic Forty Six & 2. My goal is to interpret the meaning of the songs and represent them using a variety of typographic and visual styles.
