I built a web based version of the caption game many years ago using .Net Framework 2.0 and Vanilla Javascript. I decided to revive the old project in the form of a mobile app. My goals for this project were to create a (mostly) serverless multiplayer application using React Native and Firebase. It has been a challenge to manage things like user state, matchmaking and game lobbies mainly using firebase, but the benefits of future scalability and less server infrastructure make it worthwhile.
