Natural Discovery

ABSTRACT:

Urban life, by definition has always been chaotic. The promise of opportunty brings thousands of people to cities every year. These cities are intended to bring culture and community together, but in a metropolis such as Los Angeles, people are more disconnected than ever.

Because L.A. has been shaped by the convenience of the automobile, we seem to have lost our sense of pedestrian-scale discovery. This project seeks to reclaim and invigorate the pedestrian culture that has been omitted from the city.

INTENTION:

The proposal is for a "spiritual retreat" in the urban extreme of Los Angeles. The site is located in Silverlake, on one of the busiest streets in Hollywood, Sunset Blvd. The concept for this project is to give the average person an escape from the fast-paced nature that is daily life in  Los Angeles.
