SIX INVITATIONAL 2019
After a 3 years of content and competition, Rainbowsix Siege organised the third Six Invitational where the 16 best teams in the world gather for the annual grand final in Montreal. Also, during 6 full days, fans, professional players, content creators and developers will gather at the Bell Center venue in order to watch new content live showcases, developer & community panels.
I was in charge of the art direction of this event. To give a kind of freshness to the brand, I continue to get away from our traditional dark colors and environments bringing the white mixed with the season operation colors. The polygon signature was a personnal choice that brought back abstraction into our sometimes conservative identity.

This year, I decided to integrate a participation of an external artist to bring more freshness and variety. He has a fantastic talent and a nice style which have a similar approach as our art direction pillars. His name is Denis Gonchar.

CREATIVE PROCESS
The creative process developed to produce these illustrations is a superb example of artistic collaboration between Ubisoft's design team and illustrator Denis Gonchar. The concepts of the images were conceived in a different narrative direction and a more human approach to the characters. It was with the narrative director and myself that these scenes were thought out. Then, it is with the 3D characters that the first stage of production has been realized. This allowed a good base and a perfect reference of our characters with positions and reactions as natural as possible. In the end, the magic operates. It is up to the illustrator Denis Gonchar to put his talents and his graphic approach to give life and style to the project.
