A Knockout Punch to Childhood

OPPORTUNITY
This project created an opportunity to design a cohesive series of books that had a common theme or idea. After determining the theme, a cover was created to portray that theme in a visually attractive and appealing way.

SOLUTION
The focus of this series, “A Knockout Punch to Childhood,” was to put together a group of four books that all have been fighting misconceptions since their original publications due to the creative license that screen writers, editors, and illustrators have taken. The original ideas of these books have been lost by all of the distortions that have been made when translating the books to different media, and this series attempts to draw audiences to the original books rather than those other types of media. To do this, a very basic plot summary is plastered on the front of the book in the style of early boxing posters. By having the summary of the plot on the front cover, the viewer is forced to read the story then ponder the title. Forcing people to think is the main purpose of these book covers. Once the title is revealed, the viewers will realize all that they have missed by never visiting the original texts.
