Material set consists of 7 MXM materials and refers to the UNI 149 standard for metal knurling. The texture maps are tested on Maxwell Render but can be used on all render engines.
Texture maps are supplied as both displacement and normals. The recommended workflow is that you first create your metal material and then check the supplied MXM files for the settings for the displacement component and the global bump setting (which uses the normal maps).
You can also not use, or disable the displacement component in the MXM if not needed, to save render time. You will only need displacement for closeups and in case you want to see the proper silhouette of the knurling. For displacement to work as expected, it’s best to use it on geometry which has mostly square shaped polygons. Avoid geometry with very long elongated triangles as this will produce artifacts in the displacement.
