In an effort to increase the likelihood of success for small-scale producers that want to sell their products in large retail chains, we put together coursework and a workshop for the participants. 

The objective was to help the producers develop communications, marketing and design capabilities so that they could identify their clients, strengthen their business models and value proposition, improving the shopping experience.
With over 100 participants of diverse backgrounds, education levels and demographics, establishing basic concepts for everyone was important, and we used nature as the basis of our analogy of business throughout the workshop. For instance, participants understood the concept of competition by relating it to how plants grow in different directions in order to reach light. 

Through this strategy, participants were able to internalize important business concepts, and improve their products' experience.
