Dubai Pavilion by Paul Cocksedge for the UK Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020. Designed in partnership with IDOM and ARUP. Described as a living watercolour the pavilion has thousands of coloured translucent glass discs overlaid on top of each other. Every colour in the pavilion comes from the flag of a nation exhibiting at the event, expressing unity, partnership and possibility.
Creating the visuals for the project was a real challenge. The way that the discs are overlayed and the way that they interact with each other created technical challenges for rendering that we approached using both a high-tech and an artistic process using PFlow and post-production techniques that were a topic for a presentation given at Novembers 3DSLondon by our Creative Director Joshua Newman.
