Such in Boxing Yoga as in life itself, we need the two opposite elements that bring the ultimate balance.
One of our most creative and challenging project, combines two opposite spaces. When we began to rebuild two stone warehouses of 1930, our main goal was to manage to combine the classic with the contemporary, as well as pair the diametrically opposite sports: Boxing and Yoga. So, we kept in sight all the primary elements of the buildings. We cleaned the stone, remade the wooden rooftops, repaired the existing metal windows and replaced the glasses with new ones. We also layed out wooden floors and the classic white and black tiles.
At the same time, by reading about the history of boxing through time, we borrowed decorative trends of the english and american cultures, such as the neon signs, the old cinema front, the chesterfield sofa etc. These things were respectively used in the Yoga space, in different colors and shape variations, so to create a more united character of the two spaces, which is maintained tougher at boxing and more calm at yoga. The two spaces are also same on the spacial planning, with same-sized lofts, where the locker rooms are. By using wall paintings, graffitis, wallpapers, collage, frames, flags, candles and a very special room lighting, we decorated the spaces, so that one would feel familiar and happy at his fitness area.
Working on its corporate identity was also a challenge. The boxing side logo was pre-existed with the name "the Ring Boxing Academy". We were called to design a corresponding logo for The Cactus Yoga Studio, taking care to look like the first one but also communicating the subject and the philosophy of Yoga. Their applications ranged from business cards, membership cards, flyers, weekly programs and registration forms to environmental graphics, banners, badges, stickers and all kinds of clothing. The main features of these applications are flexibility, different illustrations, stylised silhouettes and influences from American culture in boxing, deconstruction and minimalism in yoga.
