About Sundance
As a champion and curator of independent stories for the stage and screen, Sundance Institute provides and preserves the space for artists in film, theatre, film composing, and digital media to create and thrive. We believe that a story driven by an individual, authentic voice can awaken new ideas that have the power to delight and entertain, push creative boundaries, spark new levels of empathy and understanding, and even lead to social change. We support independent storytellers and advance the impact of their work in the world.
Strategy
I still believe in the traditional brick and mortar setting. I believe that brands should have a space for you to experience the brand because a brand is truly an experience. For the Sundance Institute to better provide a space for artist in film and fields related to film, I created Scene 57, a shop, café, and mini-theatre all in one - a space for artist in film. The shop would sell items related to Sundance such as DVDs and posters, as well as books, writing journals, etc. aimed at helping these artist to master their craft. On a monthly basis, Scene 57 would screen local independent films.
