Linda Luo's profile

LLINDA.FR | Personal & Design Blog

In mid 2017, I set out to design a website that would represent my identity as a digital designer. LLINDA.fr was more of a blog than a portfolio; it was a showcase of how I think, how I see the world, my work-in-progress journey and an example of my creative direction not dictated by any of my past work.

I had dived deep into the UX process for clients in the past year, most of them favouring a more serious and corporate style, some of which already had creative teams to execute their UI.

The autonomy and responsibility I was given to lead the UX for these global teams groomed and propelled me towards becoming a champion of UX. A consultant with a designer hat, as you will, through facilitating and educating in sprint sessions, along with solving problems of information architecture, user and navigational flows, wireframing page layouts, tone of voice content and prototyping.

More and more I was invigorated by the chance to solve problems for these clients on a strategic level, but the "designer" part of my title was looking less tangible on paper.

Designers after all, are expected to design. So I decided to make llinda.fr the site where I document my journey as a design consultant seen through the lens of an expat in France, via a blog and newsletter. It would be about what I was learning and experiencing in hopes that other designers, freelancers and consultants may empathise, laugh and seek insights ranging from productivity, designer workflows to personal and professional growth.

All this under a cohesive brand that would be an example in itself of my "style" of creative direction. My fingerprint as a UX UI designer.
I also dedicated some time to creating some resources and templates based of what I had learned about UX design and also what I was using in our workshops, to help the community in speeding up their process workflows. I also aim to be continuously creating more as I progress along my career!

My life also changed in a drastic way since I committed to moving to France in May 2016. So some posts that I share will be on how I came here knowing no French and how I came to learn and understand the language, how I had no adult life skills and had to survive and adapt, how being really bad at orientation makes me an empathetic designer, how designers can adapt to the GDPR, and how I overcome procrastination.

This site will be evolving and growing, so if you'd like to stay updated with me, please feel free to subscribe to the list!

Thanks for checking out my project! :)
